Have you ever wondered how memory works? Not only humans have it - all mammals and many birds and fish have it. Describing the mechanism of memory operation, one can draw an analogy with computer memory. But there are nuances. Computer memory can only record what the user wants. And if in the case of a living organism, the role of the "user" is assumed by our I (self-consciousness), then memory can record not only what the "user" wants but also create records that do not depend on the "user." The first type - semantic memory, the second - episodic, records those events that caused a strong emotion.
